Letter, Howell Hobbs to Eudora Hobbs; 4/6/1861

              At Home April 6th 1861

My Dear Eudora
             Your last favour enclosing one to your Aunt Sue, came safely to hand after a long trip in Mr. Lincoln's Slow Mail - and as your Aunt Sue had written only a few days ago, I have delayed mine until the present. We are all well at present except your Cousin James Morris, who is quite sick with something like Pleurisy.
    I saw your letter to Richd Ledbetter of the 21st Inst, in which you said you well &c - which I was very glad to hear - in regard to your skirts, I think it will be best & cheapest to get the material & make you some there as Mr. Lemly has declined coming there this Spring. Your Aunt Sue says that these here will keep very well until you come home. We are having very dull times here very little business going on. We are all very busy planting cotton & trying to make up for our short crops of last season. Our Spring is much earlier than last year I have nearly all my corn up & want to commence weding [sic] next week. I have a forward Garden.
