Dear cousin Augusta,
Our sojourn of a week under your hospitable roof enabled me to stand the trip to this place far better than I expected. The lunch was delicious & I think Nannie arranged a meal every two hours from Mobile to Jackson. Judge Yerger had quite a sick family, we declined stopping there, but I take nearly all my meals with them as their house is a miserable one & I regret exceedingly that we did not accept your kind invitation to remain with you, which had we done until Monday, our carriage & waggons would have met no one tuesday. Hal, a son of Judge Shall Yerger (a near neighbor of ours)
