Why this long silence? You doubtless know we are very uneasy about you. Ma is almost sick with anxiety. In your last letter you wrote you were out of money. Ma wrote you to borrow $100 from Uncle Jack or rather get him to use his influence with his commasary to loan you that amount until Pa could come & bring you such things as you need, he would have been to see you all long ago had it not been for the Yanky excitement up above. I expect you all have been quite uneasy about us. You can rest assured the Yanks will never over take us again, we will run from them as long as there is a foot
