Mr A. W. Feemster
My Dearest Alex,
We have just returned from church where we've listened to two very good sermons from Bros. Buchanan & Allen with the former I was delighted It was entirely a new sermon on an old text viz. "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Matt X v1-20
I fully agree with you in the opinion that Annis has a husband worthy of her. He & Bro Allen arrived here Saturday at dusk. Bro. Wood came to the church Sat. morn. having staid all night in town to attend a meeting of the Masonic lodge. By the way there is quite a revival among the Masons; all the Kidds except the old man & Bill have joined; Tommie was initiated Friday night. We have had very congregations both as regards numbers & behavior. Four anxious persons this morning & two professions Mrs. George Tucker & Mrs Ellis her step daughter & Miss Anda. Tucker was another of the anxious. There were more this eve. Bro. Stainback was out went home tonight on Miss Clara's account I suppose doesn't expect to be back tomorrow. I have written the last three or four lines with Mattie on my left arm but she is beging to jump.
