                        Your's of Oct 31st was received last Tuesday I was afraid you might be anxious to know the cause of my silence but suppose you have received my apology & that it is sufficient. I had not thought of undertaking a trip down there not that I am not anxious to see you, believe me; but I did not think you were expecting me, had no company & no money without asking Pa. I don't remember whether or not I told you that Charlie was in Enterprise in Uncle Griff's office getting $50 a month or $30 & board he seems to be much pleased. Ma had a letter from him Friday night. All were well except Annie's baby - Amzi they don't think he will ever recover. I don't know his disease. Bro. Cooper staid with us Wednsday night he said he didn't know any one in the world that he'd rather see than you - he counts you one of his best friends. He thinks his baby is hard to beat. I believe Pa is thinking of selling out old Bro. Allen has written for a description & prices of the negroes & Bro Lewis was down last week looking at the place. Mr Bryan is in his house in town & a Frenchman has rented ours at $30 a month to take possession as soon as Mr. Garvin leaves. Julia came out with Pa last Sunday eve & staid until Tuesday she expects to go to one of John's uncles near Starkville to teach. They are worse out with the Dunnings than we were. The girls act very imprudently. They do not work much & their mother eats opium & begs. Sends notes to those she knows has provisions. Sallie's marriage with Williams is broken up.
