                                     My last hope of getting a house here, any time soon has expired; but I'm so well pleased with the thing that killed it that I can bear it tolerably well, particularly, as it was a very faint hope at best. The Newspaper committee were in session all day Monday and yesterday till about three oclock this morning, perfecting their plans. Bro. Ransom will leave here in an hour or two for his command to resign his post of duty there and expects to be back here in about three weeks, at which time he will take possession of the office - I mean this room. The first number of the paper is to be issued on the 1st of January 1864. It is to be a halfsheet weekly, at $5.00 pr annum. I do feel rejoiced at the prospect of having such a paper started. Am also very glad of the prospect of having bro. Ransom to preach for us every Sunday so soon. Then if I could just have you comfortably situated here, wouldn't I be fixed up? This is our prayer meeting night, and I'm writing in a great hurry. Have taken in five watches this week to work on, more than I can do this week I expect. I'll try and clean one tonight after meeting is over.
