Meridian Miss. Jan 9th 1864.
My Dear Loulie;
I got along very well till I arrived here at 10 oclock last night. The engines on the road from here to the Tombigbee river are all out of order so that there will not be a train before Monday certain and very uncertain that there will be one then. I have determined to take the Mobile train tonight and go by that place and up the Ala river. By that route it is pretty certain that I can get to Selma by Tuesday.
I bought one bundle of thread No 8 and 2 of No 10 this evening and shipped by express to the care of Dr Franklin. The No 8 cost 35.00 and the No 10 $37.00 pr bunch. If this is not the right size let me know as soon as convenient, the size that will suit and sell that for the market price. It is too late to write much this evening, and especially in such a miserable den as this town is. Will write you again as soon
