My dear Husband
              Nathaniel Magruder sent me word a short time ago that he would go down to Clinton tomorrow so I concluded I would send you two collars by him which I have had ready to send by the first opportunity; I wish you to try them & let me know if they suit you, & if they do not, let me know what alteration to make.  The package containing letters from Madison County & from Nannie Digges has been received, I was glad to get them, but would have been much better satisfied if it had contained one from yourself of a later date than the one sent.  I cant understand how my letters happened to get to Clinton instead of coming directly here.
     I have been expecting to see Mr Meggett again as he told us he was coming directly back, I hope you will write me a good long letter by Nat and let me know how you are geting along, & whether you have made any new business arrangements.  I have been visiting about a little since you were here, but have not yet returned all my calls.  We had a family meeting last week at Mary Barton's, consisting of Sis, myself, Brother Howards family, & Mr Simrall.
    Please let me know if there is any prospect of geting Sissy a pair of shoes, I have been obliged to get her a pair here, but need to pay Specia for them, (as Confederate money wont buy anything in Woodville) and they are too nice to wear every day, if you could get her a stronger pair she would be shod for the winter.
