Description	Letter from H. S. Jemison in Sparta, Mississippi, to Judge Thomas Nelson Martin, regarding Jemison's plan to join a camp in Florida and his need for money for new clothes for the army. He also writes about slave matters, including discussion of the hiring out of the slave Jarrett, and bringing his Negro "boy" to the army camp with him. 1864.

Transcript	Sparta Miss Feb 5th, 1864. Judge Martin: Dear Sir Since I saw you I have concluded to join a camp down in Florida. I find that the money I got from you will not be enough to get the Clothes that I am compelled to have, before I go into the army. I can't get cloth to make shirts for less than eight dollars per yard. I have no Over Coat. I ought to have one by all meanes [sic]
