Meadow Woods
Dear Aunt Maria
I hope you are well. I want to see you very much & hope you will come up soon. We have been here more than two weeks, but it does not seem so long, for I am very buisy all day. I study in the morning and play all the evening. Almonte & Zuleka have the Distemper so that I do not ride as much as I did when I first came up.
[top margin]
Dear Sister, if you will send me one of Queen's shoes I will have her a pair made. Ask Dr. Fearn or Miller if the little ball I send is worth any thing as a substitute for opium. It is lettuce juice which I have collected according to a newspaper receipt. Please let me hear from it as soon as possible, as if no account I shall trouble myself no more about collecting it.
Yours &c,
A. H. R.
