La Grange, Tenn. June 22nd/61.
Dear cousin Lit,
School having closed in Oxford a few days since, and relieved me from my toils I have left there, and come up to La Grange to spend a few days with cousin Sophia; where I am having quite a nice quiet time. Everybody having gone to the wars except the ladies, a few old gentleman, and occasionally a young man. Cousin Sophia & myself have been talking about writing to you for several days but having been very busily engaged (as she is making preparations to go to Union City in a few days) we have had to decline until the present. Cousin Sophia received a letter from cousin Robert yesterday. He writes in quite a happy manner, and seems to be well satisfied. He says they are very comfortably fixed in camp, and thinks they will be rather loth to leave even to return home. Though they hope to return in August, and I greatly wish their hopes may not be in vain. Is
