Transcript	Jackson. Jan. 13, 1861 Dear Dora Sarah received your letter last night and in it you said I was so taken up with Hadie that I could not write to you, but I will let you know better. I can not give any reason why I have not written to you sooner, but it was not because I had forgotten your [sic], because that I can never do. I spent my christmas out to your house but I could not enjoy myself as I would otherwise would have done had one been there that is far away; notwithstanding I spent my time finely.
