Transcript	near Jackson Mi Feby 8th 1861 My dear Eudora Your very welcome favour of the 28th Inst was recd last evening. I was very glad to hear that you were well & going on so well in your Studies. I hope you will continue to devote yourself to the improvement of your mind, for I am sure you will never regret it when you get grown. We are all well & going on about as usual. Mr. Ledbetter & your Aunt sue were out to see us this week & went home last evening, all were well in Town. I recd a letter, at last from your uncle Fed he wrote me that Father & all our Relatives in Va were well & getting along finely that he had never recd your letter, nor Father either, he says he will write to you as soon as he receives one from you he and Father made very good crops of Cotton, Wheat & corn last year. I have not subscribed for the "Lady's Book" this year, as we have Seceded. I would not subscribe to any of their "Papers or Books"
