Dear Sir:
I am writing you a confidential letter and ask you very kindly to read and give same your careful consideration. I was born at old Westville Jany 25th 1878 and my Father was the late W W Dampeer, who was a whole brother to my late aunt Chartie M Gaskill, whom I am sure you knew both quite well. I havent [sic] lived in Miss in several years and done office work all my life until 42 yrs old when I tried farming. Knowing nothing about it I lost $2500.00 cash in 1920-21 & 22 & you remember what 1920 was. Cotton went from 40 c to nothing. On top of that I stuck to farming & learnt to be a very good farmer & worked like a negro until 4 yrs ago when Dr advised me to stay out of field. My wife & I came to N.O. year ago last June & bought out a rooming house,
