Transcript	Columbus Novr 4th Jane & Shields send love to you mama Carleton Ida & Granpapa also My Dear Jimmie I received your welcome letter yesterday morning, & I can assure ^you I appreciated it very much because I was anxious to hear from you & because it was the best written letter I have ever seen from you. There was only one word spelt wrong in it, that was their for there, that means place[,] their for persons. Granpapa has given me a dollar to enclose for your improvement in writing and spelling. I hope my dear boy you will improve in every thing and learn to think for yourself in every thing, for thinking persons always succeed best in life.
