Whereas, on the Seventeenth day of January A.D. 1843, a writ of alias fieri facias on Bond was placed in my hands as Sheriff of Jefferson County to execute which said unit was issued from the office of the clerk of the circuit court of Jefferson County, State of Mississippi, to wit: _____________ James Carradine and Samuel B. Newman, merchants trading in copartnership under the name & style of Carradine & Newman, versus John D. Burch, Philip O. Hughes, David M. Darden, Charles Clark, Charles T. Miles, John H. Collier, Samuel W. Darden and Edwin McKey for the sum of Five Thousand two hundred and eighty 02 ?? / 100 dollars including damages and costs-which said writ of alias fieri facias on Bond was by me levied upon the following Negro slaves, as the property of defendant, David M. Darden, to wit: ""Jake and his wife Esther and two children (Henry and Alexander) Brister and Ann his wife and two children (Green and Margaret) and Bill."" - And Whereas, after giving due notice of the sale of said property, I did, as sheriff as aforesaid, this day, offer the above named negro slaves at public auction, at the door of the Court House of the said County of Jefferson. And Whereas, John P. Darden appeared and bid for said slaves as follows, to wit: For Jake the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars, for Esther the sum of Two hundred Dollars, for Henry the sum of Fifty Dollars, for Alexander the sum of Fifty Dollars, for Brister the Sum of Three Hundred Dollars, for Ann and her two (Green and Margaret) the sum of Four Hundred Dollars and for Bill the sum of Four Hundred Dollars, said bids amounting in the whole to the sum of Sixteen Hundred and fifty Dollars, which said bids being the highest and best and more than any other person offered or bid for said slaves-
