Franklin College Dec 22 Bro. Darden, I wrote you by last mail that Thadeus had left; and it is possible I was in too great haste. I have just learned that he is on a farm in which I am interested, a few miles from Nashville, and I suppose he will be back as soon as Christmas is ?. I have a young man on the place who will take good care of him. Thadeus, I am told is much mortified, and says he was persuaded off by the youth who went with him. Perhaps it will be a good lesson. Be so kind as to write him and Horatio inspiring letters. They lack ambition. As you directed I purchased a violin for Horatio $6. and I have directed our Professor of Music to give him a few lessons at my expense.
