Transcript	July 3rd 1892 Dear Cam: After re-reading your letter, which reached me yesterday in due time, I have concluded that it is deserving a prompt reply, hence I hasten to do so in a few lines tonight while in my room before retiring after a pretty hard days [sic] work, though the same old story which has grown quite thread bare, "no news." but [sic] if you will kindly bear with me for a little while I will do the best I can then leave you for the judge. To "bigin with the beginning" I shall take your letter up by sections and review it from a social stand-point. First: I am very sorry to hear of Joe's illness and hope he will not [page 2] have as tight a time as many such cases of flux brings on. I had not heard from home since 1st of the week and nothing was said of this his sickness. I suppose he was taken afterwards. I can well imagine your lonliness [sic] during the absence of all the boys from the Grove. I guess its [sic] pretty hard for you to interest yourself socially but I guess you have no spare time for amusements, having your crop to look after, no doubt occupies most of your time, by the way I am glad to know that you are progressing nicely with it and hope at the end that a rich harvest will be your reward. But look sharp, Burt will I expect be back on your land the first thing you know and if he does come, I'll warn you in time that it will take something more substantial [page 3] than a mere wire fence to keep him out, so look out for him and prepare for his invasion[.] I know him you know. And you have been exercising your limbs recently in the merry whirl of the fantastic waltz. Ah: you have struck a fascination, a charming emblem, a beauty of lovliness [sic], a something of peculiar charms, yet too deep and too superb in its line to be described by the dripping ink from a poets [sic] pen, certainly you have engaged in that sublime gaiety of mingled feast of love and amusements in which I, too, have endulged [sic] in quite frequently with a great deal of pleasure. But that as well as many other ? must have taken a back seat next [page 4] to my relay of past hopes, probably to never be revived again. I somehow do not regret it, for I have about concluded that there is no money in too much society, especially in a town or a city, but one thing I can say. I have had my share of pleasures for the last six or seven years, and it has convinced me that its [sic] time for me to quit, so quit I did, when I left Crystal Spgs. Well Cam, you seemed to place more confidence in my letter and advice than I had expected, and you also trust me in the experiences of contention with this world. Yes I am ready to agree with you on the experience part, for I have fought my battle through to this day with a good deal of earnestness, and faithfulness, and what there is lacking for me yet to contend with, it may come any day. Just so it all does not pile on me at one time, for I'll [page 5] meet all obsticles [sic] as they come and trust to luck. Should my luck be favorable I should be very happy, but should it be otherwise and prove unfortunate for me, I believe I would be the most miserable creature in the world. Somehow, I have a good deal of pride, and I would hate very much to humble myself to adversity, don't you agree with me? Now to the subject which we both have refered to. I'll just simply tell you what I would do if I were situated as yourself. I would cast a prospective eye over the beautiful southern homes, and see what might attract my attention mostly. I expect it would be beautiful little queen of southern belles, arrayed in natures [sic] purest gifts, attractive, energetic and congenial, then added to this I think [page 6] I would find intelligence and personal sincerity in every thing. I think I would then prove myself ambitious and exceedingly anxious to win her affections and her heart, then to close a life of singleblessedness I would propose to lead her to the high altar of bridal ceremony. And then Cam I would be the happiest boy in all the world. If you find a girl of your choice and one who deserves as true and noble a man as yourself, then I am sure you would not make a mistake. Don't you mind the small defects you claim to have, such as a neglectful education, poor &c &c, for such as that don't cut any figure these days. You are the boy that any girl would do well to get, and I know you would take care of a wife as well as any man. But with all of this I would not care to see you marry a girl not deserving of your good qualities. [page 7] Allow me to shake hands with you from a "Cleveland Democratic" standpoint. I know you right now, and when the time comes "?" your Cleveland vote in and you will be doing just right. He is going to win, no doubt about it. Hill is not "in it" at all and he is not known in the race up here. "True blue" is my motto. I would not flinch away from the Democratic platform, for anybody, for she is the one our fore fathers supported, she is the one we all love, and she is a friend to the South every time. The farmers alliance don't seem to understand the step they are taking when they assert that they will make their platform by a certain pattern and say to all farmers "You've got to support it right [page 8] or wrong,["] they dont [sic] know that it is killing all feelings towards Alliance principals [sic]. I wonder if Uncle Foot knows what alliance means? I'll bet he does not think of the real meaning. No he could not and then turn around and let them elect him president of a county alliance. Cam you have done right in withdrawing from them. It would be a good thing if all Alliance farmers could band themselves in such a way, to improve their mode of farming, protect their rights, indulge in farmers principals [sic] &c But it looks bad, when they attempt to say to a free country that we the Alliance will make your laws, make you live according to our by laws, &c. Don't you think so? Under the principals [sic] that the farmers have [page 9] adopted within the past year I have grown bitterly opposed to them, simply on the grounds of what I have already seen. And I wrote a letter to that effect to Uncle Dock, who allowed Uncle Foot to read it and consequently I think Uncle Foot persuaded him to let it go unanswered. That is, I have not heard a word from Uncle Dock since. And if he wants to let Uncle Foot drag him into a plot that he would unfold to a civil, educated and free people, I say, let him go too. But one thing sure, neither of them will prosper under its [sic] hazardous teachings. Cam I am no politician, but I love what is right. Now I shall soon close, but before I do [page 10] I want to say that when Grover Cleveland is nominated I shall be there to assist in applauding. And from that day on to the distant end I hope to see the 3rd or peoples [sic] party fade forever from the worlds [sic] surface, as a "Club" or a "band" or a party. When this is done I am sure that the people who constituted this party will proceed to join the Democrats or Republicans. Write soon Cam and tell me all the news just as much as you will and with much love to all our folks, Aunt Jennie and all the family, with best wishes I am Your true Cousin Will please excuse haste
