Transcript	Long Beach June 12, / '92. Dear Cammie, Yours came to hand just as I was making ready to go to N.O.-expected to write from there, but was pressed for time. All the diversion I took was to go out to West End one evening with my wife & the girls. The music was enchanting, the scenery sublime & the sunset on the lake simply grand. I am very much pleased with my location, & feel more at home since we are all together. The fare has changed greatly; & I can say now, that we get 3 square meals [page 2] a day which we all enjoy. We have not been foundered on fish, but hope to get more in the near future. I could enjoy some of your good peaches, figs &c. Those luxuries are very scarce here. I mean to set out an orchard this fall. I have had a very warm reception here, both by native & the visiting community. I had a call from Rev. Ben Jones, principal of the High School here, & formerly of the Port Gibson School. Clara & Lewis have gone out in the country 3 or 4 miles to a hard shell protracted meeting. Today is communion & foot washing. No doubt Lewis keeps you all posted. You asked if you should [page 3] remail that which was directed to me at Dry Grove. Anything valuable, as letters or medical journals, I would be glad to get, but worthless circulars is of no use. I will leave that to your judgement.
