My dear Mama-
I am 26 years old today. I am making every effort to gain ground and overcome my recent trouble. I want to see you and will see you just as soon as I can.
Mama, I saw Tom Hubbard & he told me the best thing I could [do] would be to see those timber men those large trees that they want that the trees were too large and bulky for lumber or any good but for what they wanted them for. Said he sold
