Description | Oral history; interview with Dr. Walter Taylor, May 11, 2012, Mitchell Memorial Library, Mississippi State University. Taylor earned his Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education at Virginia State College and his Master’s degree in Agricultural and Extension Education at New Mexico State University. His Doctorate is from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Vocational-Technical Education. Before coming to MSU, Taylor was a professor at North Carolina A & T State University in Greensboro. He first began his career at Mississippi State in 1986. Once he joined the faculty, he was an Assistant Professor of Agricultural and Extension Education, teaching and conducting social science research. He became Head of the Department of Agricultural and Extension Education in 1992. He has served as Interim Director of the School of Human Sciences. At the time of this interview, he was Associate Dean for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Taylor has been designated a Fellow of the American Association for Agricultural Education, the highest honor given by the organization. In this interview, he discusses some of the issues with the building prior to its renovation, some of the benefits the building now has, and the past and current faculty of Mississippi State University. |
