Oral history; interview with Dr. Lynn Reinschmiedt, Professor Emeritus of Agricultural Economics, May 16, 2012, Mitchell Memorial Library, Mississippi State University. Reinschmiedt was born in 1949 in Clinton, Oklahoma. He received both his Bachelor’s degree and his Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics from Oklahoma State University, in 1971 and 1973, respectively. In 1976, he received his PhD in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University. Before coming to MSU in 1977, he spent a year as an Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics at the University of Delaware. Once at Mississippi State, he served as Assistant, Associate, and Professor of Agricultural Economics. From 2001 until his retirement in 2010, he was the Associate Dean for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Since his retirement, Reinschmiedt has held several positions, including Interim Associate Vice President for Administrative Services in the Office of the Provost, Interim Faculty Credentialing Consultant in the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, and as of this interview’s date is Interim Co-Registrar. In this interview, he discusses his years in Lloyd-Ricks, some of the renovations in the 1980s and 1990s, and the people who worked there.
