Dear Sir:
The English Class of Northside High School has been studying the first four
points of President Truman's ten point Civil Rights Program. The newspapers have
stated that you are opposed to the following points:
1. A Federal anti-lynching law
2. A permanent fair employment practice commission
3. A end to Jim Crow rules in transportation
4. outlawing state poll tax
Will you please state your reasons for the stand you have taken? We hope to become
better citizens if we have the opinions of all sections of the country and then draw our
own conclusion. We would appreciate your ideas to be used for educational purposes
only.
Respectfully yours,
XXXXXXXXXXXX
