I have just read what you had to say before the Sub-Committee now considering
the proposed Anti-Lynching Bill. Your reasoning is sound, logical, and to the point. The
citations to which you refer are not familiar to me, but I am sure they apply fourcefully to
the matter in question just as you stated they do.
As you have so fourcefully said, there is no occasion for such a law in the first
place, and second it can in reality have no legal standing. It has always been my thought
that if such a law were passed it would be unconstitutional, as would its fellow travelers
in the group proposed for political reasons.
You have given a statesman-like account of yourself in this matter as I am sure
you will do on all matters coming up for your consideration.
