Description	Letter from Alfred Y. Glover in Forkland, Alabama, to James Sykes in Columbus, Mississippi, requesting that he make a decision about a slave girl named Tildy-Ann, who belongs to one of Dr. Sam B. Malone's minor heirs. James Sykes is the agent for the heirs' guardian, Dr. Frank Sykes. Glover wants to keep Tildy-Ann, but only if he can either purchase her or keep her on the property free of hire. He says he doesn't want to seperate her from her 'two little children.' 1864.

Transcript	Forkland Ala Dec 5th 1864 Col James Sykes Columbus Miss Dear Sir, As you are the agent for Dr. Frank Sykes, guardian of the minor heirs of Dr Sam B Malone, Decd, I write to say I am unwilling to keep the girl (Tildy-Ann) belonging to one of said heirs. I agreed to keep her this year free of hire (save for her food & clothes &c. If however you wish it, & are willing to let her remain on the same terms I will agree to it, because I dislike much to part her from her two little children. I would however much prefer to purchase her or have her taken away if you do not agree to her remaining free of any hire. Let me hear from you. Very Respctly Alfred Y Glover
