Fayette Aug 22, 1864 J.P. Darden Esq You still have in your care 15 bales of the cotton I purchased of you for the Confederate Government. You are requested to continue to take good care of it, & will be furnished with bagging & rope to put up that part that has become damaged & unmerchantable by ? of weather &c, & without using ? of yours, you will be expected to furnish bagging & rope or ties for that that you have used, or by neglect has been damaged Tho.
