Natchez July 27th 1865 John P. Darden Esqr Dr Sir Since your son left hear [sic] we have weighd [sic] the cotton you sent in that is Mr. Pendleton did and our clerk saw it done and says that it was weighd [sic] fairly if the scales were correct but there is such a difference between his weights and yours that we send you a copy and you can compare them and have your scales examined and instruct us what to do in the premises We send by your waggons [sic] the goods ordered in haste Your Friends Fleming & Baldwin you will notice the cotton lost 526 lbs
