Transcript	Franklin College Sept 21st 1852 Brother Darden, Your draft for one hundred dollars has been recd and placed to the credit of the boys. Horatio & Thadeus are both in excellent health. They have grown this year remarkably and they are both doing quite well. Neither of them is remarkably industrious, but their progress is fair. I hope the reports in future will all be favorable. Horatio has united with the church, and if I am spared I will endeavor to teach the boys gentlemanly and Christian habits. This is the chief matter in the education of youth. We have just opened with fair prospects. Very truly yours T. Fanning
